On Saturday, June 3rd the NJSSAR dedicated the first Patriot Burial Historical Markers funded by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation in the State of New Jersey at the Old Baptist Church Cemetery and the Old Methodist Cemetery both in Manahawkin, NJ. In addition the graves of Silas Crane and Samuel Bennett were marked. The Pomeroy Foundation provides funding to state SAR’s to mark cemeteries where Patriots are buried nationwide.  Charles Morgan Immediate Past State President and Michael Mangum current State Vice President represented the State Society. Diane Waugh Oliver current State Regent of the DAR, General Lafayette Chapter Regent Shea Pease and Mayor Gregory Myhre assisted in the unveiling of the Pomeroy Foundation signs. Descendants of the Crane family traveled from as far away as South Carolina to assistant in the marking of Silas Cranes Grave. The ceremony began at the Manahawkin Old Baptist Church and processed over to the Old Methodist Cemetery where the dedications were repeated and the ceremony ended by the playing of Amazing Grace by retired Air Force Veteran Mike McAleavey on the Bagpipes
